It’s starting to be summer

It’s starting to be summer time in houston again, which is a horrible thing. i can feel it creeping in when i walk from my car to school every day. soon i won’t be able to wear anything but shorts. there are some very colorful flowers on my way to work/school that are dying now. there will be rains though, not those weak rains that we got in austin on rare occasion, or the dreary weeklong rains in nashville, but heavy torrential houston rains. the sound of the concrete humming as it absorbs water is fantastic, and that smell, like chalk and plants and dirt.
