Majority Opinion Redux

After reading the majority opinion, I have to agree that the ruling based on privacy is the best reason to strike the law down, while still believing that the equal-protection reason would have made it easier to get things like same-sex-marriages. I am slightly sympathetic to the people that say government should have no place in marriage at all, so I’m not that wrapped up in getting same-sex-marriage legislation passed for any reason other than acceptance.

It would be nice if people could just designate a person that was authorized as a spouse if they want. Do it yourself, change it when you want. The company I work for has beneficiary information like that, it’s refreshing. There are no requirements for the person at all.
