Broadband Now

I’m about to get to switch back to Time-Warner cable for my isp, but I’m putting this online just in case anyone does research before signing up for Broadband Now/USOnline. They are horrible. Once a month I bet my service goes down for a few hours. I don’t access the internet throughout the day, so that outage is only in the time periods i know about.

Their tech support is only during business hours. Honestly. If you call on the weekends you get a answering service, with nice people, but people that aren’t entirely sure which company you are associated with.

Also, the connection is slow. Like 100k/sec is quite fast for me right now. Usually downloads from fast places (Apple/Akamai) is like 60k/sec, which is really barely higher than a fast dialup.

Broadband now isn’t any cheaper than time-warner or other providers, they work by contracting with apartments and forcing the people who live in them into the arrangement. Gables in Houston does this. Anyway, if you move somewhere that has them consider DSL.
