There is a nice essay about the “semantic web”:http://www.shirky.com/writings/semantic_syllogism.html at shirky.com. I don’t routinely read his site, I think I should start, he consistently impresses me.

In other news, tomorrow I will be hooking the tivo into my home network, and connecting my desktop via wireless, because the cable jack on the correct side of the room, “isn’t a cable jack at all, it is a antenna, or something. we can’t activate it though”. So, it won’t be so bad really. One thing I don’t understand, tivo uses USB networking, which of course requires everyone to get a usb network adapter, why? can’t you just get a cheap 10mbps ethernet card in there? Honestly. I’m doing tivo that way because i’ve finally weaned myself off land-lines, almost. I still have some sort of limited line, where I can only make a certain number of calls, I think that safer, after 9-11 my cell phone network was too busy for about 2 days. Anyway, that’s about $150 to linksys.
