This Land

Well, that hilarious flash animation of Kerry and Bush has received a letter, “This land is your land” is still copyrighted due to our idiotic copyright laws. It was written in 1940 by Woody Guthrie, someone who apprently even at that time didn’t think much of copyright, saying:

This song is Copyrighted in U.S., under Seal of Copyright # 154085, for a period of 28 years, and anybody caught singin it without our permission, will be mighty good friends of ourn, cause we don’t give a dern. Publish it. Write it. Sing it. Swing to it. Yodel it. We wrote it, that’s all we wanted to do.

EFF has taken the case and is representing them. Too bad to use your freedom you have to have a lawyer, a point not lost on the EFF. Update here.
