Voting
So, I voted today, we had one of those secret elections where no one goes, to re-elect the mayor who is not that opposed, as well as vote in Texas’s own anti-gay constitutional amendment! Well, due to some strange wording it might be anti-marriage of all types, as I said in an earlier entry.
Anyway, only 2 people were voting with 7 people manning the polls, and enough booths for maybe 30 people to vote simultaneously. No big deal really, it’s early voting, and they just run with the same set-up no matter what the expected turnout, which is probably for the best.
In researching about this vote I found out something a little odd. Texas has the most lengthy constitution of any state, 80,000 words long. Apparently when it was written post-civil war people were wary of politicians and didn’t want them to have much discretion, or pay ha.
So, I don’t really even know what the polls are saying about this amendment, I would like to think the people of Texas have a more freedom-loving mentality than to write anything about marriage into the constitution.
