Wiki Culture

Cory Doctorow at boing boing has a snappy post about the register always being an attention whore, even at the expense of honesty. Well, that’s my view about the situation anyway. Just to clear things up for you wikipedia outsiders, the page that was changed to make it unclear who wrote what might be troubling for people. That is called refactoring, and is a wiki thing that predates wikipedia. It’s a way to make a long discussion readable after a conclusion has been met. It’s not seen as bad because the previous versions are still available if you would rather reference them.

Also, I feel bad for people that have to deal with trolls without the help of someone who is more familiar with the system, if that happens to people you can always tell someone about it at Requests for comment.
