...yet, even though it violates our &lt;i&gt;most basic&lt;/i&gt; values and commitments, we do it anyway. What a profoundly awful statement; I hope it comes back to haunt them again and again.

I think you're basically correct about the primary goal of public corporations. I'm glad to see this act and hope it does well. I think it's very important for Congresspeople to become as informed about internet issues as possible. I suspect some of them don't even know how to check their email, but I am glad to see that they're beginning to understand what is at stake. I hope the US takes a leading role in promoting the future health and freedom of its creation- the internet. If we aim to promote and extend democracy in places such as the Middle East, we should at the same time be doing so in cyberspace, and not allowing US corporations to interfere with that mission.</description>
