The second circuit court has said that even if a provider records television for you in the cloud based on your choices, and then lets you play it back by streaming it, <a href="http://scrawford.net/blog/two-things-2/1222/">it is still just time-shifting</a>, and is fair use.</p>
<p>This is one of the somewhat no-brainer solutions for television, that are much much easier than a lot of the currently utilized systems, but that never could be done because of the chilling effect of copyright fear.</p>
<p>Watching my parents use at&amp;t’s u-verse is sad to me. The video quality is not great, and when someone runs 3 minutes over, as with tivo, you’ve missed it. If your cable goes out for 1 minute in the middle of a show, that ruins your copy. There is no reason for this. We can transmit files across a network at 100% reliability. This weird scenario where everyone tries to mimic the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Videocassette_recorder">VCR</a> because that is the only solution that has been court tested is finally over hopefully.</p>]]></content:encoded>
